I hope your holidays were wonderful and that you're having a great start to
the new year! We made it down to California and back safely and in style!!!!
We would like to thank the company that flew us down and back. Your
generosity is overwhelming and our pilots were wonderful. It meant so much
to us to be able to get Alex down to Orange County. We would also like to
thank Corporate Angel Network for bending the rules a bit for us. You're
Our trip was great. We were able to go to Disneyland with my parents, sister
and niece on Christmas Eve and had a ball! Alex was in heaven! She got to
see most of her favorite characters and rode her favorite rides. Nick got a
real kick out of the characters. It was very funny watching him staring at
them. Christmas Day was wonderful and the kids had a great time opening
presents and playing. The day after Christmas we had luxury box seats for
Disney on Ice. Thank you Sandie, Nitza and Impac!! We had a ball! Saturday
was Nick's second cake mashing and we had a great time with friends.
Unfortunately, I forgot to take the cake out of the fridge and it was pretty
much frozen solid so he had a really hard time with the mashing part of it!
He did put in quite an effort though!
We got home on Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night it snowed! A perfect
welcome home! Alex had a ball playing in it and it snowed again today.
Wednesday also brought some troubling news in the form of Alex's blood
counts. Not only had her hemoglobin dropped, but so had her platelets and
ANC. I immediately called Alex's oncologist, and we scheduled a bone marrow
aspirate for today, Friday. That made for a long New Year's Day of waiting.
We went in Friday morning and before we even had the aspirate we were
relieved that her ANC had come back up quite a bit. Doug looked at the
sample immediately for us and it is clear. They are also running a ton of
other tests to see if we can find out what's going on, but the results will
take longer. At least it's not a relapse! Talk about your answered prayers!
Nick has been doing great. He continues to be a maniac! The strength and
energy of this kid is amazing! He's climbing all over daddy at the moment.
HeHeHe!!! He has started to pull up on all the furniture and is very proud
of himself for it. We fear that he may be walking by the end of the month,
then we'll be in REAL trouble!
Please continue to pray for all the families that are starting the new year
without their children. The holidays are always hard, no matter how long it
Thank you again for all your love and support over the last five years. We
could never express how much it means to us. We have included a ton of
pictures for you! Enjoy!
