Update on Alex's Fight Against Leukemia

Saturday December 15, 2001

Hi Everyone,

Our Little Ham!We are now over three months post-relapse and still no bone marrow relapse! Alex had a blood test earlier this week and her counts continue to be great. She also had her (hopefully) second-to-last IT chemo and a spinal tap that confirmed that there are no leukemia cells in her CNS! Looks like we may have a quiet Christmas for the second year in a row! With any luck this latest relapse will turn out to have been just another bump in the road to a permanent remission.

Andrea and I went to Alex's 1st Pre-School Christmas Pageant yesterday and it was hilarious. While most of the kids were singing our daughter was:

  • Kissing the boy next to her
  • Yelling "Hi Mommy and Daddy!" at the top of her lungs
  • ...and of course taking a bow after every song!

None of the other kids were taking bows, so I'm really not sure where she picked that up from. I think it's pretty obvious by now that she's kind of a ham. <grin>

The " New House Search" continues and is going pretty well. We've found a house over in Port Orchard that we really like, but we're finding that it might be cheaper to have a house built. Problem is we would have to live in temporary housing while the house is being built and that wouldn't be a lot of fun. Anyway it's a moot point until we sell our current house.

Speaking of which, there hasn't been a lot of interest in our house lately, as very few people are house-hunting this close to Christmas. Thankfully my business has started to pick up a little, otherwise we'd be a lot more desperate to sell. Don't forget if you know someone looking for a house in the Seattle area tell them to check out our house (it's the 2nd from the top of the page for $465,000).

Alex & GrantWe had a great time last weekend as our friends Navid, Sherrie & Grant flew out from Virginia to visit. Grant and Alex were born just a few days apart and as you can tell they get along great (except when they're fighting of course). I got to see what it would be like to have twin 4 year olds and all I can say is that I admire anyone who can deal with that 365 days/year! <grin> We took a ride out to Port Orchard to look at the house that we like and managed to squeeze in some time to take our Christmas Card photo for this year. Now we just have to find the time to get the Christmas Cards out! It's been three years since we last sent out a Christmas Card, but we're definitely doing it this year. They may be a little late though. <grin>

Well I'm going to wrap up this update and go have some lunch with Alex. It's a cold and rainy December day so I think we're going to turn on the fireplace, lay on the couch and relax for the rest of the day. If I don't get a chance to post another update before Christmas, we'd like to wish everybody a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year!

Thanks again to all of you for three years of love, support and prayers.

Todd, Andrea and Alex
