Our featured charity for February 2006 is Corporate Angel Network. Corporate Angel Network arranges free flights to treatment for cancer patients using the empty seats on corporate aircraft already flying on routine business. Alex's Coupons has made a $1,000.00 donation to this amazing organization.

Since its founding nearly 25 years ago, CAN has grown to include 530 major corporations, five paid staff, and a team of 50 part-time volunteers who work with patients, physicians, corporate flight departments, and leading treatment centers to coordinate medical travel needs of cancer patients with the scheduled flight activity of participating corporations. To date, CAN has arranged nearly 23,000 flights and currently provides about 200 patient flights a month. CAN has received numerous awards in recognition of its service to cancer patients including The Volunteer Action Award from the President of the United States.

Our family had to fly cross country several times during Alex's treatment and Corporate Angel Network always came through for us. There are two places you don't want to bring a child who doesn't have an immune system. One is a nursery school. The other is a five hour commercial flight with 200 people on board and recycled air spreading germs throughout the entire cabin! I'm not exaggerating when I say that Corporate Angel Network played a very big part in saving Alex's life.
