  • American Cancer Society
    Dedicated to helping everyone who faces cancer through research, patient services, early detection, treatment, and education. Limited financial aid (~$50) for children with any cancer.

  • Hip Hats
    "Hip Hats" are attractive "hair coming out of a hat" head coverings for girls who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy. The Childhood Leukemia Foundation is offering Hip Hats to girls and young women up to 21 years of age based on financial need. Orders are placed through the child's social worker. Ask your social worker to contact Christine Heinen of Hip Hat at 1-877-447-4287.

    Alex received a Hip Hat courtesy of the Childhood Leukemia Foundation before her 2nd transplant and she really loved it.

  • Lasting Connections
    A non-profit organization dedicated to building support networks for families facing a serious medical crisis by providing them with financial assistance for communications.

  • Make-A-Wish Foundation of America
    Aims to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. A personal favorite of our family as they granted Alex's wish of a birthday party at DisneyWorld.

  • National Association of Hospital Hospitality Houses
    A non-profit corporation serving facilities that provide lodging and other supportive services to patients and their families when confronted with medical emergencies. Each facility assures that a homelike environment is provided to persons who must travel to be with a patient or to receive necessary outpatient care.

  • National Children's Cancer Society (NCCS)
    Helps children with cancer through their nationwide programs and services. With financial and emotional support, children and their families can more effectively deal with the difficulties of cancer treatment. The NCCS provided a large percentage of the financial aid we received during Alex's transplant.

  • Ronald McDonald House Charities
    Provides comfort and care to kids and families through its national body and global network of Charities, awarding 200 million in grants to children's programs worldwide. Most notably Ronald McDonald Houses provide a home-away-from-home for the families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at There are currently 206 Ronald McDonald Houses in 19 countries.

  • Spare Key Foundation
    Assists Families with Ill or Injured Children in the St. Paul / Minneapolis and greater Minnesota area . They offer a one-time grant towards a mortgage or rent payment. This allows a parent to take time from work to be with their child.

  • The Sparrow Foundation
    A youth-based charity organization of kids helping kids who promote youth-compassion by establishing and supporting Sparrow Clubs to help local children in medical crisis.
